SARGE (formerly Kellybelly) It was Friday, and I was petting Kelly in the kitchen, thinking about who might adopt him. I decided I hoped they had a young son, since Kelly would do well with a playmate. That evening, an email plopped in my box; a family in Evansville had just put to sleep their beloved family pet , who was suffering from pancreas deficiency. The dad said his younger son really missed his best friend, and that they were very interested in adopting Kelly. We put a rush on the application, exchanged a few more emails with the family, checked their references, and were convinced this was the right home for Kelly. On Saturday, May 18, we took Kelly to meet his potential new family. After about 10 minutes of visiting, his new mom said, "You don't really think you're leaving again WITH this dog, do you?" The most impressive thing was that both sons knew how to command a dog to perform obedience, and the youngest son readily asked Kelly to sit before he'd give him a treat. Yep, a match truly made in heaven!
